Versluys Logistics, a partner of LEM Ostend-Bruges, is proud to report that Cargo Village - Phase 1A, located on Apron 1 and Rolbaanstraat, has been completed and is ready for use. The first phase of the Cargo Village site covers a total area of over 30.000 square meters and is adjacent to Apron 1, next to the ex-Aerocircular aircraft hangar, which is also owned by Versluys Logistics.
A state-of-the-art Cargo new building complex
Phase 1A of Cargo Village includes a state-of-the-art Cargo new building complex. The air cargo warehouse building itself covers 12.000 square meters (including an airside canopy of 3.300 square meters). The building also includes its own offices on three floors and a flexibly to set up mezzanine floor. The site has its own car and truck parking with comfortable infrastructure for truckers.
National and international interest
In recent months, several prospective tenants have expressed interest. Versluys Logistics is currently in discussions with various interested parties. Both existing and new handlers for the airport recognize the tremendous potential of this unique 'air cargo dedicated' zone. The decision of LOM to renew the basic infrastructure such as the runway and taxiways early next year (2024) provides additional confidence to the industry. It also allows the new warehouse to be fully tailored to the requested needs. The 28 loading docks for bypass palletized, bulk, and roro cargo are a definite asset. There is also infrastructure for perishable and pharmaceutical goods, completely tailored to the customer/tenant.
A reference in the air cargo industry and a boost for the airport and the region
After the completion of the runway infrastructure works in the spring of 2024, the first phase of the Versluys Logistics Cargo Village project will function as an absolute reference in the air cargo industry. Undoubtedly, it will provide a boost to employment and the economy for Ostend-Bruges Airport and the entire region. In a logistics landscape and an aviation sector undergoing transformation, the Versluys Groep (as the 100% owner of Versluys Logistics) is already looking ahead to further investments with the development of the next phases in the Cargo Village project.
